Submission for the 2017 Canterbury Festival Poet of the Year Competition is ongoing. They are in their 11th year and they have recorded considerable progress so far. Poets from different parts of the world have sent in their entries and those who are longlisted have been published in their yearly anthology. 
They are seeking poems that explore the deep thoughts of the poet. And there is no genre restriction, poets can explore limericks, ballads, odes, haikus, just anything. The winner receives the University of Kent Prize of £200, second and third place receive £100 and £50 respectively, and £25 is given to a poet on the People’s Choice.  
They say there ain’t no such thing as free launch, Canterbury Festival Poet want you to enter the contest with an entry fee of £5. Entry closes on 19 June; so if you are willing to send in your poems, do it ASAP. The Awards Evening will be on 2 October 2017 at the Gulbenkian Theatre, University of Kent.
