You can now submit to the Variant Literature Writing Contest. Variant Literature is a non-profit publisher that supports authors and artists.  Variant Literature helps writers and authors on their road to personal and professional development. Through collaboration, quarterly journal publication, traditional chapbook & novella publication, and contests that may help the independent author get noticed, they are available to help you with your literary goals. Their mission is to work with local communities to help unpublished writers have their works published.  

Variant Literature Writing Contest Guidelines:

They accept publications in English
Do not make more than one submission per submission period. This means you can either submit in the poem category or in the fiction category
There are no length or format restrictions.
They do not accept e-mail submissions; all work must be submitted through Submittable. Submissions that are emailed to any of their editors will not be read.
Submit your best and submit often. They are excited about your work!
Make sure you send all your works in one file.
If you are submitting multiple poems, please start each piece on a new page. 

Submit to the Variant Literature via Submittable

Their team is filled with creatives who understand the agony of the wait. They will respond to your work by a week after the deadline, if not sooner. So, for this submission, you should expect a response on or before July 7, 2020. When the work is published, it can be purchased on their website www.variantlit.com. A digital copy will be sent to all contest winners and those who fall into the editors’ pick.
Simultaneous Submissions
They accept simultaneous submissions. However, you need to inform them immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. Those who wish to remove individual pieces but not entire submissions should write the organizers a note through Submittable. To leave a note, click on your submission then click on “Activity.”
Previously Published Work
They do not accept previously published works, including those published on the Internet. Upon publication, all rights revert to the author or artist.

All contest Winners and Editors’ Picks will receive a contract for publication. Variant Literature Inc will provide everything from copyright to cover art and beyond so that there is no out of pocket expense to the author.
